Generally, one would associate a concept, an idea or innovation with a new gadget or mechanical tool. We stress that concepts can be also in the realm of pure mathematics, pure arts.. even travel tips and have especially precious value when they are geared towards social change for the better or eradication of hunger, curbing of wastage or reduction in use of resources. For example: concepts towards changing the mindset of peoples re their inherent distrust / fear / even hatred of people 'no more

Assembly Line System in Garages -Posted By: B Sreekar Chandan

In the past, car manufacturers took a lot of time to manufacture a car. They needed at least 3-6 months for the process. This was very slow compared to the increasing demand.

Henry Ford introduced the ASSEMBLY LINE SYSTEM. It is in the year 1913 at the Highland Park Assembly point.

WHAT IS AN ASSEMBLY LINE SYSTEM?
The Assembly Line System can lessen the manufacturing of cars from months to days and even hours. The Assembly Line System became so popular. Every car company had used it in its manufacturing plants.

The Assembly line used belts and rollings to shift the cars. The process behind manufacturing starts from the engine. Then the frame for the car. Later the body and painting come next. We must arrange the plant with different sections.

First, the car arrives at the engine point where the engineers assemble the engine. Later it goes on to the next point and so on. The employees are divided and made experts in that skill of assembling.

ASSEMBLY LINE SYSTEM IN GARAGES:

The concept is to use the assembly system in the mechanic garages. All cars will assemble on the line and they will move through the sections where the job is to be done.

Let's say mechanic should check the car's wheels. The car goes to the wheels section and to the engine section later for the general service.

PROBLEMS:

It is always a big deal for small service centres to adapt to this system. We should invent a new type of assembly line, that is compact and has modern technology which automates most of the work.

The works includes turning the car towards many sections:
The Engine section
The body section
Washing section
Electrical Section
Electronic section
Decorative Section
Wheels section, and
Trial drive section.

Assembly line maintenance is high. We have to change the rollers, belts, check the lubricants, and do the mechanical repairs often. This is a burden for the companies. But it is worth using an assembly line in the service centres and garages.

Workers are always a problem for the assembly line. Usually, service centres hire, people with all skills and there are 5 to 10 in a medium scale service centre. With the assembly line we need to assign skilled labourers for each section. This results in under labour for some sections and wastage of labour when there is no work.

THE BENEFITS:

The Service centres can deliver the vehicles early. If everything goes right a general service might take an hour. A service with few repairs might end in less than two hours. Like now there will be no waiting for the delivery a whole day.

We can even get the quality service as the labour will be skilled in their respective sections. And a faster service is also an asset. What do we need more than a quality and faster service. Comment if this idea works or not?
