Generally, one would associate a concept, an idea or innovation with a new gadget or mechanical tool. We stress that concepts can be also in the realm of pure mathematics, pure arts.. even travel tips and have especially precious value when they are geared towards social change for the better or eradication of hunger, curbing of wastage or reduction in use of resources. For example: concepts towards changing the mindset of peoples re their inherent distrust / fear / even hatred of people 'no more

The Man-Made Forests - Real Freedom For Animals from Zoos?-Posted By: B Sreekar Chandan

There is no freedom for animals. You know this when you have visited a zoo. It is a jail for them and takes out their freedom. The skeptical thing is these animals haven't made a mistake. Except falling in the human eyes. Humans are afraid of wild animals.

So they have caged them and put into the zoo a.k.a the animal jail. How did you feel sitting in the same room during the pandemic for six months?

The same happens with animals. Maintaining Zoo's is not a good practice. But there was a reason why we have built zoos.

HISTORY OF ZOOS [Source: Times of India]:
In 2400BC, Shulgi the ruler of Ur (South-East Iraq Now) built a place to keep his collection of animals. But the first real zoo was started in the year 1500 BC by Queen Hatshepsut. The emperors wanted to show their wealth and power. Soon this turned out to be visiting centres for public. Today the oldest existing zoo is built by the Emperor Franz Josef in Vienna. It was built in 1752.

After human civilization developed, the forests disappeared. So we built more zoos to see wild animals with our naked eyes. All the zoos we see today have some operating norms.

Operations IN ZOOS:
The traditional zoos have a simple architecture. A huge area is turned into park. Several metal cages are placed sequentially. Where the animals are kept inside. Most of the zoos are funded and maintained by governments. A few attendants will clean, feed and maintain the animals as instructed.

In the traditional zoos the animals get the timely food yet their health deteriorate. Why? Because they lose their freedom. Technically, we can say this as animal depression. So a zoo came up with an idea.

IDEA:
This is a practical idea that started in a Chilean zoo called Safari Lion Zoo. They left the animals freely and caged the humans, of course not forever. The humans are taken to the safari inside the metal cages. The metal cages are carried by a van.

Meat is tied to the cages and the animals come to take the meat. The humans inside the metal cages will get a closer view of the animals. This saved a lot of animals from their imprisonment. And they are safe.

HOW ARE THEY SAFE?
It is completely safe because the metal cages you are seeing in the traditional zoos are stopping animals from coming out.

There is no worry that the animals harm us. Even if there is any danger. We are in a vehicle that can save us from the animals.

IS THIS THE REAL FREEDOM?
Still, I don't believe it is real freedom. The animals get the freedom. But they are still limited to the zoo area. They only get real freedom when we bring modification to the zoos. The zoos must be abandoned and man-made forests should come into existence.

A zoo is a place that is always limited to an area. We should demarcate and create more forests by taking over waste land and turning them into forests. These forests are going to serve as the zoos for us.

You will get the real wild experience when you see the animals in the wild. So you need to leave the animals in the wild. This will be safe as the area is controlled by us and this forest experience is going to be natural. If this happens we can save our nature at the same time.

If you have ever visited a zoo and seen the problems of animals, this idea seems to be viable for you. Please comment on your thoughts about this and give me an insight into how you were seen by animals treated by the zoos.
